Spritual Significance of Navratri

Navratri or Navratra, Hindu festival of worship of creative feminine force or Divine mother (in hindi meaning is Shakti/Devi) & dancing celeberation is on its peak in India. In Sanskrit the word Navratri consists of words Nav, Meaning "nine" & ratri, meaning "nights". During these nine nights and ten days nine different forms of Divine Mother (Shakti/Devi) are worshipped by Hindus.
Navratri is celebrated twice in a year first one in the beginning of spring and second in the beginning of autumn (September-October). These two periods are taken as sacred opportunities for the worship of the different forms of Divine Mother. Three major forms of Devi are form of Mother or Maa, Mother Durga or Mother Kali, Mother Lakshmi & Mother Saraswati.

Navratri is divided into sets of three days to worship three different aspects of the supreme goddess or Divine Mother. 

Goddess Durga is worshiped first three days:
As Maa Durga is also Known as Maa Kali, the first three days are worshiped  to destroy impurities & evil tendencies of mind.The worship of the Divine Mother in the form of spritual force "Maa Durga" simply destroys the inherent evil & realising one's true self.


Goddess Laxmi is worshiped second three days:
The Divine Mother Laxmi is the abode of all spiritual wealth. The destruction of the evil tendencies in one, makes room for a pure mind. By worshiping Maa Laxmi with the purity of mind, susceptible to receive the knowledge of the highest truth. Hence the second three days are dedicated to Goddess Lakshmi during the nine days of Navratri in prayer for the purity of the mind. Goddess Laxmi have the power of bestowing on her devotees inexhaustible wealth, as she is the goddess of wealth.


Goddess Saraswati worshiped the final three days:
The Divine Mother in the form of Goddess Saraswati who represents the highest knowledge of Self knowledge, is worshiped for the destruction of the ego. In order to have all-round success in life, believers seek the blessings of all three aspects of the divine femininity.

 The tenth day The day of victory "Vijaydashami"
The tenth day of Navratri is celebrated as Vijayadashami.The day of victory owing to one's victory over the evil tendencies for the attainment of a pure mind.The tenth day offer us highest knowledge of the self or self realization.

Let us pray to the Divine Mother for our righteousness, wealth, fulfill desires and Liberation.
